Director of Operations

As the Director of Operations at Samuelson’s Diamonds, Liz Durbin is the engine behind the company’s day-to-day excellence and a key specialist in the evaluation of precious metals. With a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Towson University and over 11 years of hands-on experience at Samuelson’s, Liz bridges the gap between complex market logistics and the personal needs of every client.

Liz is a recognized expert in precious metals markets, specializing in the valuation of gold, silver, and platinum. She takes immense pride in helping customers navigate the nuances of the jewelry industry—translating technical details like metal purity, weight, and fluctuating market values into clear, actionable guidance. Her disciplined approach ensures that every evaluation, whether for a direct purchase or a trade-in, is rooted in transparency and current market data.

Beyond operations, Liz plays a vital role in Samuelson’s digital curation, particularly managing the company’s Etsy and First Dibs shops. Her keen eye for “hidden gems” allows her to identify and present distinctive vintage pieces to a global audience. She is particularly passionate about the history of diamond cutting, with a deep appreciation for the soft glow of Old Mine and Rose cut stones, as well as the bold, architectural lines of the Art Deco era.

On the Samuelson’s blog, Liz provides “from-the-source” insights on metal market trends, jewelry care, and the operational standards that ensure a secure and fair experience for every customer.

A Baltimore local, Liz spends her time outside the showroom hiking and camping with her dogs at Loch Raven Reservoir or catching the latest sci-fi movie.
