The Best Places In Maryland to Propose

The Best Places in Maryland to Propose

Congratulations! You’re ready to take that next step and put a ring on it! As Maryland natives, we can tell you there’s no shortage of places in Maryland to propose. From the mountains to the ocean with the bay and a range of urban to rural, we’ve got a little bit of everything. The most important question is what’s right for you?

If your partner loves the water, then a waterfront proposal might be the way to go. On the other hand, if your partner is an adrenaline junkie, proposing after sky diving in Harford County with views of downtown Baltimore, the Susquehanna River, and the Chesapeake Bay might be the thing to do. And sometimes, a quiet proposal at home might be perfect for you two.

At Samuelson’s, we love love. That’s why we put together a list of some of our favorite places in Maryland for proposals. And if you still need some ideas, let’s brainstorm while we’re selecting or designing the perfect ring!

By the water

Maryland has no shortage of scenic waterfronts. Whether you choose to do it “downy ocean,” on the bay, or along one of the many beautiful spots along Baltimore’s seven-mile waterfront promenade, along the water always makes for a picturesque proposal site. Alternatively, think about doing it on a boat – a sailboat, a water taxi, or a paddleboat even!

Thomas Point Lighthouse

In the mountains

A snowy scene in the mountains of Maryland might be the scene for you. Or perhaps, you might be more inclined to propose after a long hike along rushing river waters deep in Western Maryland. We’re one of the rare states that can offer ocean, bay, and mountains to satisfy the naturist in you. And bonus: your partner will never forget the gorgeous tableau set by the mountains as you propose!

Over a meal

For many, food is the way to the heart. Maybe you want to dress up to the nines and go out for a fancy dinner. Or perhaps you want to turn an ordinary night into an extraordinary one at a favorite local joint. There’s a reason restaurant proposals are so popular – because the scene is already set for you!

A historic site

One of the virtues of being among the first colonies in the Americas means that Maryland has no shortage of historic sites. If you’re a civil war buff, there’s always Gettysburg. For the colonial fans in the crowd, visit St. Mary’s County for a taste of what life was like. And of course, every fall is Maryland Renaissance Faire season, which has been the backdrop to many proposals.

A museum

If art is your thing, there’s always the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Walters Art Museum, or the American Visionary Art Museum. If you’re more into science, there’s the Maryland Science Museum – where you can get engaged in front of dinosaur bones. The Reginald F. Lewis Museum brings to life the culture and history of African Americans. And of course, there’s the Maryland Aquarium – with its teeming displays of aquaculture. And that’s just in Baltimore City. Museum curators know what they’re doing when it comes to creating beautiful, inviting spaces. Use their expertise to find the perfect spot to propose!

Downtown

Want to do it in the heart of a city like Baltimore or Annapolis? You’ve got options. Want to do it in a quieter downtown area like in Frederick or St. Michael’s? Those will work too. All across the state of Maryland are large and small downtown corridors with scenic shops, restaurants, and views. Pick one and make it yours!

A park

From city parks such as Patterson, Druid Hill, and Federal Hill to county parks like Cromwell Valley, Oregon Ridge, and more, parks have the benefit of being a little bit of everything. You can find meadows, ponds, fauna and flora, and more. Take your partner on a long walk and then find the perfect setting to drop to one knee.

A ballpark

Ravens Stadium might be your thing if you bleed the black and purple. Or perhaps you’re diehard Orioles fans, despite the playoffs being just out of reach for these last few years. That’s not to mention college sports or the minor league stadiums throughout Maryland. Cheer on a major play and then ask your partner to touchdown in the game of love!

Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Somewhere meaningful to you

Every love story has its own twist and turns. The key thing to remember is that it’s your love story – only you know what will melt your loved one’s heart. Ultimately, anywhere you do it will be special because you’re making a major commitment to the next step in your lives together. So go as creative, wild, or gentle as you want, because the most important thing is that it’s the two of you together.
Proposing is a special time in your life, and from beginning to end, the experience should be magical. We’d love to help you find the perfect engagement ring – whether it’s by design or selection. We’re also here to help you strategize about where to make that important proclamation of your love. Like we said, Samuelson’s loves love – and we want to celebrate yours! To schedule your private consultation, you can fill out our online form or give us a call at 410-837-0290. We’re ready when you are!
