5.85 Old Mine Cut
big rocks, so if you are looking to buy (or sell) a big diamond, always check with us. In the past few weeks, we ran across a 4.03 carat round brilliant cut diamond, a 5.85 old mine cut diamond, and 3.45 carat emerald cut diamond.
You can see the difference in cut between all of these diamonds. The 4.03 is a modern cut round, G color and SI2 clarity. The 5.85 carat is an old mine cut diamond. The easiest way to spot this one is the open culet – it looks like a hole on the bottom of the diamond. This is not a mistake, it’s how diamonds were cut in the early part of the 20th century. It really gives these diamonds a lot of sparkle and fire.
The emerald cut is squarish, even resembling an asscher cut diamond. This diamond was graded H color and VS1 clarity by GIA, and it is at this carat weight that emerald cuts really start to pop.
So please stop on down and take a look at our diamonds…you won’t be disappointed!
