Animated Wedding GIFs – A Cool Twist on your Wedding Photos

Feb 17, 2014

As the marketing manager here at Samuelson’s Diamonds, I spend a lot of time researching trends in the wedding industry. This morning, I came across an article on Buzzfeed listing 42 wedding photo ideas you’ll want to steal and number  37 was “A GIF”. How intriguing – I never even considered how awesome it would be to make animated GIFs from your special day.

Jeffrey Lewis Bennett, the owner of JLB Wedding in Clawson, Mich created this unique and innovative way to record the essential memories of your special day and I must say I LOVE everything about this. While everyone would love to have a professional videographer there to document their big day, it can be pricey addition to your wedding budget, but could animated wedding photos be a less expensive option? While these animated GIFs are captured solely from photography and not video, it does take hours of digital manipulation after the photos are taken to create the final product.

This seems to be a relatively new trend but I can see it becoming more mainstream in the future, so hopefully if/when that happens this cool twist on wedding day photos will become a part of many photographers packages.  As of now, I am not aware of any photographers in our area that offer animated GIFs but I’m on the hunt to find someone that does. If you know anyone that does this, or have animated GIFs from your wedding day, please let me know.

Below are some of my favorite animated GIFs from JLB Wedding and you can see even more of his work on his Tumblr. I’d love to see some creative animated GIFs involving ring shots so I’ll be following his work to see if he does anything like this in the future. I know some of our Samuelson’s Diamonds would look really good in animated form:)
